Few species have the allure of the Grizzly Bear. The data shows that when people come to Glacier, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Parks, the number one thing they want to see, hands down, are Grizzly Bears... followed by Moose and landscapes.
I’m so often asked where to find Grizzly’s I just tell the truth, “they are where you find them.” Some people think that answer is evasive, or cagy, but in truth, I’ve seen Grizzly bears in every conceivable place in the Rocky Mountains and beyond that there’s really no other way to describe it. From the dense river bottoms to the highest, snow capped mountain peaks in Glacier National Park, and now clear out on the prairie, I’ve seen them just about everywhere you can imagine!
Explorers travel whenever, and wherever we desire. Grizzly bears are explorers. My quest for the perfect grizzly bear image will be complete when I get that perfect photograph of a mature male grizzly bear on the prairie with the rocky mountains in the background. This may sound simple, but trust me, it’s been many years searching, and I’m still working on it!
Please be careful and respectful when entering Grizzly Country. Grizzly country is basically anyplace in the rocky mountains of Montana. Specifically, The Yellowstone area, north up through all of the Rocky Mountain Front, Glacier National Park and all of western Montana north of Missoula, Montana. Be safe, have fun and most of all, carry bear spray in bear country!
